UFC 140: Picks by FIST-ta-CUFF Radio Host Anton Skoro
Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida
Anton: I have to say I am still puzzled how Machida gets a title shot
after beating Couture? Okay on with this fight… Simply put Jones by
anyway he wants. Machida is talking about possibly taking Jones down,
I don’t see that happening. Bones Jones will win this one by KO/TKO
before champion rounds, I’ll say in round two.
Frank Mir vs. Minotauro Nogueira
Anton: I am with Meghan on this one. This fight needs to go to the
ground, I wanna know who wins this ground battle at this point in both
of these guys career. I have to ride with Frank Mir, he has the edge
on the stand up and I could see this fight staying on the feet
unfortunately.
Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Nogueira
Anton: Tito is a guy that I hate to bet for at this point of his
career. He is one of the originals still trying to hang with the young
guys. It’s not that I don’t see Tito winning this fight, it’s that I
have found myself in this spot with Tito and his career before. I have
to go with Lil Nog by KO. If Lil Nog can keep Ortiz from taking him
down with his striking, we know he has the power to KO someone and I
don’t know if Ortiz still has a chin to take those kind of shots.
Claude Patrick vs. Brian Ebersole
Anton: I gotta roll with Ebersole on this one. I mean the guys on a 9
fight win streak and has the experience coming into this fight. I also
think his wrestling background will play a big part of this. Ebersole
by 2 Round Submission.
Mark Hominick vs. Chan Sung Jung
Anton: This is going to be fight of the night from my first look at
the card and I stand by it. Hominick I would assume will be dedicating
this fight to his friend and trainer the GREAT, late Sean Tompkins. I
can’t imagine Hominick doing anything but dismantling the Korean
Zombie en route to getting another shot at Aldo. Gonna roll with
Hominick by KO.
Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Igor Pokrajac
Anton: Gotta agree with Meghan, Krzysztof by decision. BOOOOMMMM!!!!!
Jared Hamman vs. Constantinos Philippou
Anton: I have to go with Hamman, he’s coming off a big win against
C.B. Dollaway and has two of his three losses in the UFC against some
solid competition. Hamman in what could be a good stand up war.
John Makdessi vs. Dennis Hallman
Anton: I can’t support the Banana Hammock, no way no how. This is a
battle of the Veteran Vs. the Up and Comer. Makdessi is 9-0, while
Hallman sports over 80 pro fights in his career. Rolling with the man
who didn’t sport the Banana Hammock.
Yves Jabouin vs. Walel Watson
Anton: Do we really have to ask on this one. Walel is a beast and you
know I gotta roll with Team Hurricane Awesome. Walel Watson by KO/TKO.
Can’t say much more then that.
Mark Bocek vs. Nik Lentz
Anton: Lentz is riding a 12 fight win streak… With a draw and two
NC. That is crazy! Boceck is one of Canada’s first BJJ Black Belts,
which is also crazy. However good Boceck is on the ground, which we
saw against Jim Miller. I have to say Lentz wins this one.
Rich Attonito vs. Jake Hecht
Anton: Okay I don’t know much about Hecht, but I do know that Attonito
is a tough guy who is very strong. That is not a very warm welcome to
the UFC in my opinion. I can only see this as a great fight for
Attonito and one that could see him getting bumped up to a televised
part of the show. Rich Attonito with the win on this one.
Mitch Clarke vs. John Cholish
Anton: Okay so for this one I am going to say that this one is over
quick or a very long grappling match. Don’t much about these guys, so
I will go against Meghan and call Cholish for the win.
