Pros Point Of View With Shah Bobonis Evans/Davis Recap And Thoughts

Fights were entertaining for the most part and I went 1 for 2 on the fights that I picked. To be completely honest I think I went 0-2 because I don’t feel Sonnen won his fight. It still is beyond me how take downs which result in no ground control or damage are seen as these huge scoring techniques. I would like to grab one of these judges and punch them so hard their head snaps back and then take them down and let them back up to see which they would rather endure during a fight. I’m pretty sure this would change the way they view the value of a non-eventful take down versus numerous clean strikes. Sonnen had a dominate third round but the first two rounds were all Bisping EASY! Sonnen looked like garbage and will have to really step it up if he is planning to trade that mail-order toy belt for a real one.

I picked Davis to upset Evans but it wasn’t to be. Phil still has a ways to go with his striking and transitioning from striking to wrestling. If someone were to watch the fight who did not know their backgrounds they would think Evans was the national champion wrestler. Proves that wrestling for mixed martial arts is a different game than colligate wrestling. Rashad as always had great wrestling and ground and pound. I stand by what I said in the last blog in that Rashad really doesn’t pose a threat in the striking department and what won him this fight like other tuff fights he has had was his grappling.

Loved the Dunham/Lentz fight, well deserved fight of the night.

Now this sets up Evans VS Johnson in Atlanta this April. I bet the press events for this fight are going to be completely out of control and I cant wait to watch them!
