Kajan Rages Up World Rankings
By MFC Staff
Two ultra-convincing wins at MFC 31 have catapulted a pair of fighters to soaring heights in the world rankings.
With his tidy submission victory over Richie Whitson, “Ragin” Kajan Johnson (19-11-1) took a huge leap up in the ranking compiled by Fight Matrix. Johnson moved from No. 121 to No. 66, a jump of 55 spots, and he rocketed up 22 positions from his previous career-high ranking of No. 88 established back in April 2009.
Johnson’s ascent moved him past several notables in the world rankings including Chris Horodecki and Thiago Tavares. The Vancouver, B.C.-based fighter has climbed to the top of the contenders list for the MFC crown, and is likely to face the winner of the title matchup between reigning champ Antonio McKee and challenger Brian Cobb coming up at MFC 32 on Friday, January 27.
According to Fight Matrix, McKee holds down the No. 36 spot in the world rankings while Cobb, who had a sensational organizational debut back at MFC 30 with a first-round TKO over Drew Fickett, has vaulted to No. 9.
The other fighter from MFC 31 to take a big step up in the rankings is another prominent figure in the MFC’s stacked lightweight division. Coming off his first-round Knockout of the Night performance against Curtis Demarce, former U.S. Marine Adam Lynn has jumped to No. 73 in the world, a bump of 19 spots.
Lynn (17-8) returns to action at MFC 32 as he is set to take on rising star Mukai Maromo (6-2) who will be fighting in front his hometown fans in Edmonton, Alberta.
