Jorge Masvidal Fights With Hurt Hand? Still Willing To Stand and Trade With STRIKEFORCE Champion Gilbert Melendez
ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) was able to catch up with Strikeforce lightweight contender Jorge Masvidal following his title fight loss to 155-pound champ Gilbert Melendez in the Showtime-televised main event Saturday night in San Diego.
Masvidal is known for his great boxing, and although marked up the champ’s face quite a bit, still lost the bout via unanimous decision in the judges’ eyes. Masvidal explains why he got away from his original game plan, got overly emotional after the first round and did not go for more takedowns.
As far as what is next for the American Top Team fighter, he wants to fight the fights that will get him another crack at Melendez as fast as possible (even if it means fighting two guys in one night) and is hoping he can earn himself another title shot in 2012.
Masvidal also shares his thoughts on ATT teammate Alexis Vila and the impressive run he had in Bellator’s season five bantamweight tournament. Stay close to ProMMAnow.com for more “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal” post-fight interviews.
